From the early days of Cosmonic, Kevin and I embarked on this venture with a shared dream and an unwavering passion for innovation. As we've navigated the fast-paced and dynamic world of startups, we've continuously evaluated the best ways to harness the strengths of our team and achieve our collective vision. I’m excited to share some organizational news that I'm writing to share exciting news about some organizational shifts that Kevin and I believe will propel Cosmonic forward with even greater momentum.
Cosmonic News & Announcements
- Netreap takes Cilium beyond Kubernetes – open source and operational in Nomad
- Remedies Kubernetes edge trials – Nomad + Cilium create ideal conditions for Wasm at the edge
ARLINGTON, Virginia. May 23, 2023. Cosmonic, creator of the Cosmonic WebAssembly (Wasm) PaaS and active contributor to CNCF sandbox project wasmCloud, has open sourced Netreap, an application designed to allow the deployment of Cilium as a container network interface (CNI), outside of Kubernetes, in HashiCorp Nomad workloads. The move brings Isovalent Cilium (a CNCF incubation project) together with Nomad to create the ideal toolset for running WebAssembly (Wasm) applications in multiple clouds, on bare metal and on the smallest devices at the far network edge.
Earlier this year, alongside our friends at DevPost, we launched the Cosmonic Distributed WebAssembly Hackathon and encouraged you all to get creative with Wasm and the Cosmonic platform.
We asked you to take your ideas, whether something that would improve your daily work, something that could replace functionality in an existing application, or be the beginnings of a potential startup and implement them using WebAssembly, hosted on Cosmonic.
We saw hundreds turn out to build hacks, side hustles and creative ideas on Cosmonic, and to snag a share of our $4,500 prize pot -- and we weren't disappointed!
- Cosmonic Connect allows third party integration with popular technologies and infrastructure
- Cosmonic Connect Kubernetes launches at KubeCon EU
- Introducing wadm: familiar, declarative application management for wasmCloud apps
Come build your ideas, side projects, and hacks on Cosmonic to win a share of a $5,500 prize pot💰! This week we launched our distributed WebAssembly hackathon in partnership with DevPost, and we're inviting everyone, worldwide, to come join. Our only requirement is that you build your project with the CNCF application runtime wasmCloud and run it on Cosmonic; the rest is up to you!
With the next update to the Cosmonic developer preview, we're making available one of my favorite features: super constellations. Be careful, though, as this feature has been known to blow people's minds.
Funding will help accelerate evolution and in adoption of WebAssembly in industry, and help bring the first, feature-rich Wasm platform to developers everywhere.
Cosmonic has entered the Developer Preview phase and is now inviting users to deploy their ideas.
Today, I’m honored to announce that Kevin Hoffman, creator and lead maintainer of wasmCloud since 2019, has joined Cosmonic as CTO.
Kevin, an author, educator, and builder, brings more than two decades of technical experience to help drive the company’s innovative wasmCloud growth strategy, a targeted initiative to scale the business with increased focus on execution. Addicted to learning new technologies and languages, Kevin is a lover of distributed systems and a relentless advocate for joyful developer experiences.
ARLINGTON, Va. — August 25, 2021 — WebAssembly Pioneer Cosmonic today announces that the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) has accepted its universal application runtime for building cloud native applications with WebAssembly that can run anywhere — as its latest Sandbox project.
wasmCloud (1), the secure-by-default, boilerplate-free developer experience, exists to combine the power and possibility of using cloud native technologies with WebAssembly to design, develop and deploy composable applications that plug into incredibly diverse multi-cloud, multi-edge, and multi-browser environments.
