Imagine rapid development of platform-agnostic multi-cloud, multi-edge and far-edge platforms that run at near native speeds anywhere, at any scale. Fast, secure-by-default, distributed application development that eliminates entire classes of security and portability challenges at significant cost savings.
That’s the power and possibility of Cloud Native technologies and WebAssembly, a Better Together story that will take center stage in Valencia on the eve of KubeCon EU 2022.
As co-chair of CNCF WasmDay and wasmCloud contributor, I am delighted to highlight WasmDay and KubeCon Rejekts presentations when cloud native developers present their Wasm- and wasmCloud-related efforts.
- BMW: Designing enterprise-ready machine learning applications with WebAssembly and wasmCloud (KubeCon Rejekts - May 14, 12:15 pm CEST). Christoph Brewing, a data scientist and software developer, is testing the deployment of distributed Machine Learning (ML) to production across dissimilar devices from edge to cloud using a common code base. Specific concerns he’s addressing: making optimal use of available resources, supporting blue/green testing, privacy preservation, latency, throughput and dynamic, secure updates.
- Adobe: Wasm beyond the browser: Use cases at scale(WasmDay May 16, 3:15 pm CEST) Colin Murphy discusses Adobe’s use of Wasm in its flagship browser-based products including Photoshop, Lightroom and Acrobat. They are exploring use cases for Wasm in edge compute and in the data center with wasmCloud. Of particular interest are performance, cost, security and compliance
- Indie games: Low-cost cloud platforms for game servers (WasmDay May 16, 12:15 - 12:25 pm CEST). System QA Engineer Alan Poon Yong Quan discusses his use of wasmCloud and Bevy ECS for multi-player games.
Taylor Thomas and Brooks Townsend from Cosmonic are also presenting Disrupting the Downtime Continuum (May 18, 3:25 pm CEST), during which they will present frictionless patching of software dependencies, demonstrating downtime-free migration, patching, and real time failover between clouds using Web Assembly and wasmCloud.
If you plan to be in Valencia, stop by the Cosmonic booth to preview the Cosmonic platform – a Platform as a Service (PaaS) for managing distributed applications composed of secure, portable, scalable business logic. More on that soon.
In the meantime, look for blog posts summarizing these wasmCloud sessions and key takeaways.
